I know it's been quite some time since you posted this 11-NOV-2007, but I want to say thank you very much! I had been challenged to think of how fairness and mercy are similar and yet different. Your writing helped me very much to focus on how these traits work together to create fairness, as opposed to defining them seperately.

Thank you again,

Thanks for this great way of looking at "fairness". I see much value in making a distinction on between equality, mercy and justice.

your comment page is buggy. I would prefer to write this privately:

May I quote you and link to your piece on fairness on the blog site I write for: www.boston.com/realestate/news/blogs/renow/
I would like to use this entry to inform the discussion about foreclosure and foreclosure bail out, which currently IMHO has been going around and around in a fruitless manner.
I am hoping that providing your structure to discuss the fairness of foreclosure policy will elevate the discourse.
It may remain fruitless, but I can hope. Can I use your post toward this end?
Of course, I really like your post, or I would not be asking to link to it. It’s clear and I hope it can be useful.
Thank you,
Rona

Eh, morals are illusory. Hence, ethics are irrelevant. There's a more funxional methodology in the wings.
